‘As tradition states, a Guild magician may claim guardianship of a novice, to guide his or her training in the university.’

In this forum, you, as a new novice, have the chance to get the help of a guardian. He or she will answer your questions about this forum. You can ask him or her for help through pm whenever you feel lost in here. If English is not your native language, we will try to find a guardian for you who speaks your native language.

Feel free to ask for help in here.

Maybe those Magicians who are willing or downright interested in a guardian's role drop their names here? Or - the easiest of all would be if the novice would just fire off a pm towards their hopefully soon-to-be-guardian.

Hey all... I haven't really given the RPing aspect of this site much thought because I'm so busy IRL. But it strikes me that information regarding which magicians would like to become guardians should maybe be in the Magician's area where potential novices wouldn't be able to see it? They could still post here to show their interest... but that way, no one can say that anyone's playing favorites?

Hope that made sense. :]

Novices shouldn't be able to see the magician area.

I was more referring to the idea of this thread being used as a place where the magicians could post and say they wanted to be a Guardian. The novices should be able to post here, yes, so that people know they would like a guardian (no guarantees, of course). But I feel like the magicians should restrict their interest to posting in the magician area.

That make more sense? ;}

That does make sense. But no one's saying that they want a specific novice yet. The people expressing interest aren't mentioning who they want, just that they're willing to become a guardian. The idea is that novices who want one will see this post and PM the magicians they want.

Well see... that's sort of what I'm talkin' about Jmerc. Shouldn't the Magician be the one to choose the Guardian? Or .... are things just more lax here and no one really cares? :} I've been on several RP places where rules were the end-all be-all of everything. While I've noticed that many things here seem to be laid back, I was just curious.

Yay again. :}

ya it is pretty laid back here. but then we don't even have 100 members yet let alone much more the 20 that are active all the time.

Not every novice needs a guardian. like you and lirael for example. you guys kind of jumped right in. Smile

the point is with this thread to make the new members know that if they have questions that they can go to someone to ask.

but perhaps it's not a bad idea if a magician wants to be a guardian of a particular novice then perhaps to discuss it in PM's. or the magician quarters.
