I really enjoy Ann Rice's vampire series, just wondering does anyone else?

So far I've only read 3 of them, sp please dont ruin the plot Rolling Eyes

And I heard that the newest books in the series are not as good, can any one give me their opinion on this?! Smile

I heard from a friend of mine that the vampire chronicles was really good. So i read the first one, but it was just as i found lotr to be. the story was great, but the way it was written made it so boring:p Buts thats just my opinion. Like the movies though. Oh and the soundtrack too Queen of the damned... Cool

I read the first one a year or so ago. It wasn't bad, but nothing overawing. I haven't managed to motivate myself to read more. I was told the first one was the best but I mean to confirm that for myself one day.

Hmmm...

I agree the style of writing is strange. Sometimes im not sure whats going on lol But other bits are really interesting. Surprised

I really like her take on Vampires, it feels more real than Twilight or other books...
But then again I dont read many Vampire books.

I love her characters though. I liked Lestat actually Very Happy She seems to make him out as a bad guy in Book 1, then reverses this in
book2.

Some of the storylines are mad alright Razz

I also think, especially in the case of Vampire Lestat, the book should have been edited more, it went on too long and dragged in places. Too much happens. Shocked

I only saw Interview with a Vampire, Thats why i read the book lol But is Queen of the damned any good? And are there any other films?

not at all Razz

Em, well since i saw Interview with the Vampire film before i read the book, I more or less knew the main storyline. But I still did enjoy it.

Now the 2nd book, well its all about the character Lestat. He's not portrayed so much as the selfish, vicious guy he was in book 1 through Louis's point of view. I quite liked Lestat, so I enjoyed Book 2. But It sure was strange & unexpected in places lol And I think its too long, so much happens Surprised

I think the film Queen of the Damned is actually based on Book 2 & 3, from what I've heard.

I couldnt really compare Book 1 & 2. If you liked Book 1 then I'd say give Book 2 a try Very Happy

Its a strange style of writing, I can clearly see how not everyone would like it.

I have to admit some bits are confusing lol Anyone else find this?

I read Interview With The Vampire after I saw the movie and found it to be much more satisfying. I thought the movie was pretty damn good to begin with.

I appreciate the strange writing style of the book, and I think it adds to the whole theme of it.

Haven't read anything past that though. I've got a few in the series on my Amazon wish list, but I'm not motivated to order them yet. I've been on a break from reading for the past 4 months or so and I've only just started reading again.

I'm most of the way through High Lord. I'm fairly proud I've almost got through the BMT in 2 weeks, but I've been slacking these past few days. The first half of High Lord drags a bit for me.

Wait wait, I haven't definately said I'm going to do a new Dannyl/Tayend fanfic. I said I'd decide once I'm through reading, and from how I feel so far I doubt it's going to happen.

The only thing I can see myself doing is continuing from where I left off with my previous fanfic, extending it a bit. Then again.. there are limited directions I can take with that fanfic, and the most appealing direction in all probability can't be posted here.

Wow, you sure are reading BMT very fast! Smile

Aw, I was only joking, Im not demanding a fanfic or anything Embarassed Its just there are hardly any Dannyl/Tayend fanfics out there, and of all of them yours was always my fav. And Im not just saying this, I really mean it. Very Happy

I can see your difficulty, I would like you to continue the previous fanfic, but I suppose your right, there's only so many places that can lead... Shocked

But if you do decide to write another one, Im gonna back you 100% Wink
