Im surprised that no one has mentioned this series yet...
Anyway, I read Book 1 & 2 of George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire over the summer, and I really loved them! Yes, there are a lot of names and places which confused me at the start, but I just kept going & it was worth it
Anyone else enjoy this series? Please dont ruin it for me! lol

If you find it confusing (especially the prolouge) keep going is my advice, it soon picks up!
But I'll admit I was confused with the amount of history lol But most of it falls into place later.
The books follow different views like BMT, so I had my fav characters _________________ -ALCHEMIST-

I've read the first two books but stopped reading. I liked the story but it was too complex for me then (I think I was 14 when I read it) so I stopped. I have 3rd and 4th book and I'll probably read them.

Yes, it IS complex all righty
I was confused reading Book 1, so I checked it up on Wikipedia, & that gave me the history. It really helped me understand it all
I actually get annoyed if a book has 2 many characters and 2 much history is given, it just gets confusing
I honestly couldnt follow EVERYTHING that was going on in Book1 & 2, but I got the main storylines, & I tried not to let the minor details bother me.
Having said that, I cant wait to read book 3!!!
The thing is, I feel the books are somewhat confusing, but they are also really addictive. I've read other books which are confusing AND boring lol _________________ -ALCHEMIST-

I remember that Daenerys was my favorite character (expecially in the second book) but there were only few chapters about her and I hated that.

ah yes, she seems to be in book 2 even less...her strenght of character amazed me, she was only 14!
I liked Jon, but i didnt really like his storyline...
I also liked the 2 sisters, they were so different. lol
A character I really liked died in Book 2, that annoyed me But he wasnt a main character.
I wish the author had the books already written, I know I'll be annoyed having to wait! _________________ -ALCHEMIST-

I know I hated when Eddard Stark died. It felt so...not right. I don't know.
I liked the younger sister more then the older (can't remember their names). I think I'll have to read those books again. I've forgotten everything!

* SPOILER ALERT!!! (for Book 1 & 2) *
The younger sister is called Arya, and I preferred her in book 1. But the older girl, Sansa, became braver and more aware in book 2, so I grew to like her.
Oh yes, It was wrong that Eddard got killed! But I was also dissaponited when King Renly( younger brother of the previous knig) died. I know thats silly, but I wanted him to be in it more...
Oh, we may be ruining it for others I should put a spoiler alert at the start... _________________ -ALCHEMIST-

Oh, I remember now! Yep, it was another great dissapointment.
I remember I felt sorry for Sansa when she got married (if I remember correctly) but I don't remember almost anything else. I must read those books again!!!

Like I said, if the story still is a bit confusing, just read up on it on Wikipedia, its a great summery of events & people etc...
I hope the author hurries up & write the rerst of the books... _________________ -ALCHEMIST-

you see, I think Book 3 is split into two books
So I suppose thats like 2 separate books. So I think theres only 4 out. No idea how many left...
But I read they are making a tv series, with Sean Bean as Eddard!! _________________ -ALCHEMIST-

Really?! I didn't know that. I'd be happier if it was a film, not a tv series, but anything is more then great
I think he will be good as Eddard. Not what I've imegined, but not bad...

Same here. I think he would be good
I would prefer a film as well. But I suppose so much happens, and there are so many characters, it'd be hard to make a film...
But i suppose they made Lord of the Rings, but that was an exception _________________ -ALCHEMIST-

* SPOILERS FOR BOOKS 1 & 2!!!! *
I want to ask your opinion on the incest storyline, did it creep you out? I'll admit, I was when I first read about it, but after a while I just accepted it.
Now That dosent mean I agree with incest Just that I got used to it in the books...
Actually, I think its silly the way the author deals with affairs, incest, age gaps,... but ALL the characters are straight, it just takes away the reality for me I cant understand why authors will write about incest easier than writing about characters with different sexualities... _________________ -ALCHEMIST-

It was strange at first but, like you said, I got used to it. I can't remember reading about incest in any other fantasy book, now that you mentioned it
I have to say, those books would be much better if we had a pair like Dannyl and Tayend in them _________________ ΠΡΠ΅ΠΌΠ΅ Π½Π΅ ΠΏΠΎΡΡΠΎΡΠΈ, Π°Π»ΠΈ ΠΏΡΠΎΠ»Π°Π·ΠΈ ΡΠ°ΠΊΠΎ Π±ΡΠ·ΠΎ Π΄Π° Π½Π°ΠΌ ΡΠ΅ ΠΏΠΎΠ½Π΅ΠΊΠ°Π΄ Π·Π°ΠΌΠ°Π³Π»ΠΈ ΠΏΡΠ΅Π΄ ΠΎΡΠΈΠΌΠ°.

Yes, I completely agree It was one major thing i felt the Books lacked...
There actually is incest in some fantasy, although I havnt read many of them. My friend said its in The Mists of Avalon.
And in any fantasy books with different sexualities, its only a minor/background person. And usually they are potrayed in a shady way, as though only dubious poeple are gay _________________ -ALCHEMIST-

I'm not reading anything at the moment so I might start reading book 1 again. The only problem is that I have a lot to study at the moment Ah, well. I can always find some time for reading
I've just remembered! I was reading the third book of the Night Angel trilogy yesterday and there is some incest in it. There are a lot of other things in it, like P******ution, homosexuality (only a bit), children abuse...
