The author has very limited say on what goes on the covers, most have none, Trudi is somewhat an exception. She probably had to fight quite abit to get them to agree not to put the dragon on.

that doesn't sound to surprising. but hey I'll take it!

one of the authors I read, Lynn Flewelling, for her newest book covers they're doing covers with a character from the book. (but her books are going to be a movie or a tv show so that's a tiny bit different)

A friend recommended me to read BMT. So I did, and I never regretted it!!
I know this sounds over sentimental, but they really helped me through a tough time of exams and lonliness Sad

Just goes to show the power of books yet again. I'm impressed you can get through BMT and do exams... I just end up reading instead of working.

Well you see, my big exams were a few months away at the time I read BMT. But I remember how I looked forward to just a chapter or 2 every day Very Happy
The characters were like my buddies, cos at that time i was growing apart from my real friends. Sad
When did you first read them Lady Tya?

I read tMG: Feb 2006. I've been addicted since then (and killing myself for not buying them when I first saw then 4/5 months earlier). I took me ages to find this forum and then it was totally my accident I was looking for images of the covers.

A few months from the exams and you were probably safe, but I can't image how you could limit yourself to only a couple of chapters a day. My self control isn't good enough for that.
I'm glad they helped you, it can be so tough when friends drift apart.

I remember that it was 4am when I finished tHL. I couldn't stop reading it! It's good when you have such self control. I know I don't have it!

I was very much concerned with my school work you see, i had to live up my own expectations and do as well as i could. But i worked hard because I wanted to, I wanst pushed by my parents.

It was hard to limit my BMT reading, but at the same time I wanted the books to last as long as possible- I didnt want them to end lol I suppose i have a fair bit of self control Smile

I read them October 2006 for the first time. i got them outta the library, and then I got them for Christmas. Very Happy

Some self-control is good, my general attitude is blast through it once because I have to know what happens then read it again and again slowly to savour it.

HeeHee, I love hearing everyone's way of reading, we're all so different!

I must sound so boring lol You dont wanna know bout how I read each new Harry Potter book at only 2 chapters a day, to make it last longer! Very Happy

I remember my friend staring at me in disbelief, when she read Book 5 in 4 days, and I took 2 weeks Smile

And the thing is im actually a fast reader!!!

It's very strange isn't it... I can read fast so I do but then I always expect to miss somethings and see them on the different rereads.
I'm sometimes forced to read your way when I've got loads of work or the book isn't very intertesting then it often takes ages to read. But if it's a really good book I read that instead (or at least get my work out of the way quickly.)

If a book is only ok, I usually read it quickly, & dont care if I miss details.

But when Im rereading a book, Id read it slower to pick up details and really savour it lol Very Happy

That's how I reread BMT. I actually read it at night, and read a different book during the day. I usually am reading 2 books at a given time. Now I bring a smallish book to read on the bus to college, and I read a bigger book at home at weekends or nights. Anyone else do something like this? Smile

when i read i usually read it in a normal speed i guess, but i find something so interesting that i can read the same page over and over:P And if something stressful or fast is going on in the books, i tend to read faster:P dont know why.

Thats a sign of a really good book. That happens because of how Trudi writes that scene, you'll find the sentences shorter and simple in description Smile it's a writing technique
