The Sachakan Wastelands and beyond... So the question is, how much of Sachaka was wasteland - and even more interestingly what was Sachaka like beyond the Wasteland? Sachaka has always after all, struck me as a very arid place - perhaps all of it is, but then why would the realm to which the Ichani were exiled be the wasteland when the rest of Sachaka was desert? My theory is that beyond the wasteland, Sachaka was a less dry place, or perhaps, something along the lines of Egypt, which was dry, but had the fertile lands around the Nile...

good ideas there akkarin, perhaps your right ... trudi may explain more in the following books
Akkarin- 02-12-2006
I definately hope so, if I had to choose one thing that bothers me about the books is that there is too little 'Lore' as opposed to the actual plot of the books, being so much in love with the world she created I would have loved to have more dates, more culture, more references throughout the novel - to provide more of a backdrop to events. An appendix with a good 100 pages on Kyralian History...I'd love to read that... Anyway, thoughts?

I definetly wanted more on culture... I felt that it would have allowed me to get deeper into her world. I felt she didn't give enough. I also was upset not to get enough pf a chinesy, japenesy themeof culture which I assumed was where the books got inspiration yet I felt there wasn't enough... An apendix on history would be good....

I don't know. I'm more attracted to the story side than the lore side. I reckon she couldn't tell us more about Sachaka because nobody in the allied lands knows much about it and so it had to be a mystery for everyone. I personally think that there is just a normal world beyond the wasteland that is slowly becoming more and more powerful and will doubtlessly cause many a problem in the coming books. Maybe they might gain enough power to revert the wastelands to what they were originally?

Well the wastelands weren't completely wasted, the river was runing through there. but i recon that even though it was a wasteland, it had a beauty of its own that the Ichani learn't to exploit whilst in exile. but i have to agree with Akkarin, i too could see Sachaka as an Egypt sort of place. She could have introduced more lore when Dannyl was doing he research maybe? could have been quite interesting.

Was there not mountains... when Akkarin and Sonea were in excile.. so Egypt with mountains... was there not quite a bit of vegetation too.. I can't quite remember but I thought some was metioned upon the mountains... they hid behind a bush???
Zurina- 02-12-2006
Yeah and she found water a few times for them to get clean, then there the waterfall they hid behind and the tree they slept under lol
-Savara-- 02-12-2006
ahh but the tree was basicly back near home.. I think they entered that lovely treeish bit when they were like a day from Krylia
Akkarin- 02-12-2006
If I am not mistaken, the trees and waterfalls were down in a valley, perhaps that had been saved. Perhaps I am just confused.
Sonea- 02-12-2006
I thought when they were sleeping by the trees they were already back in Kyralia?
Akkarin- 02-13-2006
Perhaps when they were by the trees, but when they were by the waterfall they were still in Sachaka I think.
-Savara-- 02-13-2006
Yes I think Akkarins right... confusion gone... This means some of Sachaka is quite nice still
Sonea- 02-13-2006
Which could mean that it is already on its way to being what it once was?
-Savara-- 02-13-2006
Yes thats true.... But I feel that the wastelands described were too ruined to be even close to what they were. Perhaps the mountanous regions are healing themselves faster?
