memory Memory
Show me an hourglass
And I’ll show you life’s time
Flowing like water
Washing over my mind
Fade out old voices
Toss them aside
(I swirl in uncertainty –
ebb and flow of life’s tide)
And around all my pain
Build a deadening wall
As my heart breaks upon it
The sand starts to fall
Rose tint all sad partings
Bright colour and hue
(a pink wedding dress…
and two shrouds made of blue)
Come close, and stand with me
As the sand trickles by
My life’s all but over
In the blink of your eye.
<quite a personal poem for me and yes, back to the old familiar angst... though without cherry blossoms this time  >

brilliant poem, but why is everyone's so morbid - well most of them
Blood Red Gem- 03-27-2006
Hey Lorkin <throws down the gauntlet> write us a happy poem!
Seriously, as 'great' poetry <which mine is not!> often flows from powerful emotions so it often stems from pain & loss....there endeth the lesson :)
...but this poem is simply about how memories are changed by the passage of time... things look different when you look back on them and you tend to try and put painful memories away...when you think about it it's not really very 'angst' at all!!

i think its very good Gem, i find it easier the write about sadness and stuff, more powerful than - happy lol i feel limited in what i can write and my vocabulary when i do a cheery one. Although the lovey ones ive done are ok and they mostly arn't that sad lol
Lorkin- 03-27-2006
fine then here is my best shot, it's called smiling - how sad is that
Smiling is infectious you can catch it like the flu
when someone smiled at me I started smiling too
when I passed the corner someone saw my grin
when he smiled I realized I passed it onto him
I thought about that smile, and realized what its worth
a single smile, just like mine could travel round the earth
so if you feel a smile begin don't leave it undetected
lets start an epidemic quick and get all the world infected

Hai!!!! love it!
Blood Red Gem- 03-27-2006
Lorkin, take a bow :D

i never said you couldn't do morbid and angst poems i mean if everyone (anyone) did a happy poem it'd probably be boring.... i mean look at mine :)

There are things in life that are untold.
Secrets that are unsaid.
Pain is something felt alone.
Do not burden others with such pain and grief.
Why should others worry over things best left forgotten.
Silence is the worst curse,
yet the best gift

I really like your Smiling poem, it was rythmic, happy, and made me smile, so in a sense, you've started infecting Sweden as well.
Lorkin- 03-28-2006
