I checked the book last night. The mindstrike was mentioned in that scene, I just didn't remember it.

Akkarin committing suicide? Wha? I doubt that.. I think Trudi just wanted him dead, I don't know why and it sucks majorly!

Though I really hate the thought, I think Akkarin really committed suicide, or he would have thought about the arena-thing a little more. :-? Even during the final battle, he could have taken the energy, he would just have had to tell Dorrien, Rothen and Balkan to distract Kariko and the other two Ichani, he wouldn't even have had to leave Sonea behind for a second. Running over to the arena, draining the shield, running back and killing the Ichani can't take more than a minute. :-?

But h may have got Dorrien, Rothen and Balkan all killed in that one minute.

Better than him being killed... they were intelligent, they would at least have stayed alive. Maybe the facade of the university would have suffered.... :)

I'm not sure if I agree with that

I think akkarin wouldn't have risked putting rothen, balkan and dannyl at risk. he has been protecting the guild for a long time. it's apart of who he is. surly the three of them could of held a strong enough shield though. or maybe it wouldn't have been enough and akkarin knew that.

omg i cant believ for one minute that Akkarin would commit suicide! (i have a theory that he knew sonea was pregnant, so he wouldnt leave his unborn child to grown up without a dad, akkarin is just not like that! hehe)

Oh lord i don't think Akkarin comminted suicide at all! I think Akkarin just knew his time was up and wanted to make the last few moments of his life worth living, do the honorable things as it were.

i spose he did in someway. but he had to do it, otherwise they couldnt have defeated the Ichani, but he didnt WANT to die and leave sonea. i just know it lol

I agree with him knowingly giving Sonea his last power thus killing him self in the act. (sniffles). But until the knife cut him I think he expected the worst but hoped for the best.

Why shouldn't you be able to? The shields work against strikes, maybe moving stuff is just a different way of using magic. :-? Like... when you use magnets... the field works through barriers... or like gamma rays...

I sgree, shields only pretect aganist things hitting it, it doesn't stop people being able to mainpulate what's behind it.
