That's great! Didn't guess what the twist was going to be at all! :D

LittleRaven- 01-23-2007

That could be an interesting twist, if you can make it make sense without making it too sappy or anything. I liked the first part best.

Kasloumor- 01-24-2007

Very good - a halfcrazed powerlusting baby Lorkin! Cute ;-)

Alira- 01-24-2007

LOLness, I never saw it that way, Kas!

>I.n.d.r.i.a.<- 01-24-2007

LOL. Baby-craze. What a great way to put it!

LittleRaven- 01-24-2007

Now I'm thinking of Alien, and demonic babies.

>I.n.d.r.i.a.<- 01-24-2007

I dont know why I continue but here it is... (I continue so I can read Jmercs story actually, lol.) Hope ya'll like it! _____________________________________________________________ Chapter Four Piercing screams. They burned Sonea's ears and she was so stolen over with fear she didnt realise they were her own. Her heart was thumping wildly as she roared unwillingly, and in the seconds of pain and torture that followed, somewhere that seemed so far away she could here Takan shouting at her, banging on an invisible force for her to tell him what was wrong when even she wasnt sure. The force... It was hers. A sheild thrown up unknowingly by her as she curled into a mess of robes and screams on the floor. She couldnt close her mouth; her body wasnt under her control. Her voice was soul-wrenchingly painful, twisting at her heart and making her head blank. Soon her voice was only a sharp gasp, and she could hear Takan smashing against her sheild, yelling at her to stop, to calm down, to tell her why she was doing this. She couldnt stop. Her voice kept going, and she tried to put in the words she wanted, but she couldnt explain what was happening. "Please, please help me!" Then her voice was gone. Only pants for air escaped her trembling mouth as she searched inside her mind, chaotic rooms of teared up memories and shattered hopes. The room with her power was calling to her. Calling in such a deep, low voice. A tempting sound that made her edge nearer and clasp the handle of the door. Locked! She cursed. Sonea wanted so badly inside of that room, she wanted to see it, to feel that sense of power and being higher than everyone else. It hurt her when she realised how good it had felt, how satisfactory it was when she had become a magician, when the dwells had envied her endlessly. When she had won the heart of the handsome High Lord and other Novices and Magicians had envied her even more. She wanted to feel it again. But more, oh so much more that people would bow at her knees. The thought made a cruel smirk appear on her pale face. With that, the last of her childish innocence fled, leaving only patches of fond sweetness that turned rotten into blissful hatred. The remnants of her pure soul urged her to stop, to take control, but they were drowned out by that low voice again that urged her to continue in velvety smooth whispers. And her vulnerable mind agreed, as though making a deal with the Devil. Her eyes opened slowly. The sheild disappeared. Takan ran to her side. And then, all she remembered was falling onto Takans lap and losing all consciousness and sanity in the curious blink of eyes. For a moment, she savoured the comfort of a familiar friends lap, but then, her mind returned blank as she rested, every sleeping breath poisoning her body harder into a dark abyss. "My Lady... Lady Sonea please, wake up!" He didnt want to shout. There was a knock on the door. Takan's head snapped up at a mix of relief and anxiety washed over him. He didnt move, for Lady Sonea's sleeping hand had clasped his clothes in such a tight grip her palm was bleeding form her fingernails digging into her skin. "In here, come in!" he called as her other hand dug into his thigh painfully hard. The door opened, and a magician came in with a billow of blue sliken robes. His eyes were dazed, yet when he spoke it was with command and control. And something else Takan could not figure out. He wasnt sure if he wanted to, as long as he saved Sonea, because that was all that mattered, there at that moment. By the magic of the man before the servant, Sonea was lifted into the air, her hands letting the fabric of Takan's clothes go and swinging softly onto her lap. Takan made no noise of protest, for he was frozen with either magic or curiousity as the man stepped out with Sonea in his arms. And by then, it was too late anyway. "Where is she?" Vinara was filled with deep sympathy for Rothen as she met his concerned brilliant blue eyes that pained her frightened heart. "She is resting now, Rothen," she told him quietly. The room was filled with many Magicians of many ranks and varied expressions. Rothen frowned. He looked hurt. "Is she alright?" A shrug was all she could reply with. "We cannot know. After she was put into the bed we couldnt get that close to her afterwards." "You mean...?" he said in a small, hoarse voice. "She has put up a sheild unconsciously. But she hasnt looked as though she's in any distress or pain." Vinara looked around for less than a second. "Would you... Would you like to see her?" His eyes brightened, the grip on Vinara's heart loosened and he tilted his head faintly in what she knew was a deep yes. "Thank you, Vinara," he breathed. "Thank you." She led him into his former Novices room, checking her shoulder in case people were watching and asked to see the poor girl - no, woman - too. But when she opened the door, she didnt only find Sonea. In the room of the Healers Quarters, with the glare of sunlight streaming in the tall windows and black shadows of the trees and other Guild buildings tattooing the floor, a quiet question came from Vinara, the one Rothen was thinking and the person spoke of was wondering. The man had his arms wrapped around his knees in an undignified manner, and he looked unaware of all his surroundings. And Vinara's voice brought him back to reality, as he blinked sleepily. "Administrator Osen, may I ask why you are here?" And the only person who knew the answer to the normally easy question was asleep, falling into a poisoned lake of Hell and evil thoughts and - in the case of Osen - lusts. _____________________________________________________________ Short. But hey, as long as ya like it!

Lord Balkan- 02-12-2007

wow! thats brilliant! poor Sonea...

Alira- 02-12-2007

WOW! That is awesome! I assume Lorkin has a really bad influence on his mother. :D

LittleRaven- 02-12-2007

So, a demon baby. You might want to omit the references to Christian ideas of hell, and evil(not the evil!baby plot point, unless there's something I'm missing, but the narrative language). Unless you want to paint the Sonea/Osen relationship as bad, in which case that last part can be the same. The chapter just reminds me too much of an exorcism movie or documentary.

j_mercuryuk- 02-12-2007

I thought it was awesome. I really can't wait to see what's going on, especially with Osen. It's so cool, write more soon. :D
