Yeah it was the dome. They added strength regularly anyway i believe so it wouldn't be that big of a change would it.

No, which makes Trudi's mistake even worse!! Akkarin and Sonea wouldn't have needed all the Arenas strength, so it would not have been destroyes and Akkarin would not have died.

Wow that's quite a big mistake. Maybe she was told to change the ending 'cause as i was reading it i thought it was obvious they'd use the arena. Or is that just me?

this is why i was so angry with akkarin dying! (im still in denial even now :lol: )
it just seemed so pointless when they could have used the arenas strength. before akkarin noticed the sachakans were weakening he suggested it, and surely wouldnt have done so if time was so much of an issue.
i also think that they could have just taken som (not all) of the arenas power, then it would be still standing, and they would have had the extra power needed.
also if they'd moved, that dagger wouldnt have been within their shield as they wouldnt have been in that spot at that moment.
just my theories anyway

lol, my friend has borrowed my copy of the books so i cant reread them lol. so since i finished them for the second time ive absorbed as many sonea/akkarin fanfics as humanly possible :lol: :lol:

I meant it might collapse on them. I have no idea how stable the thing is without magic, or how stable it would remain by losing magic, as I don't think we've ever heard of anyone trying to take magic from a building that has only ever had magic added to it, constantly, for many, many, years.

It's possible because they would have to go inside to do it. However like the others said they could take enough to beat the Ichani and still leave it standing. There must be tons of power in that thing. But you could be right, just taking a little could have made it go weird and collapse, like foundations crumbling.

Oh, and as to the arena issue, i really do think they would have been able to control the amount of power they took - Akkarin was an extremely skilled magician, after all.

I think they could control it to but it's just a different point of view. They are all valid points and yes an alternate happy ending would be nice to read but i doubt they'll re publish it :(
