Cery is an okie character, not too keen on him though, he's smart and a thief (which is cool) and that's great!

Cery grows from boy to man in the series. I know Sonea does (well, girl to woman, obv), but she is the main character, we *see* her grow up. But Cery goes from petty thief, to a figure of authority. I like this progression, it tells us a lot about life in the slums and amongst thieves. I think this part is especially well written by Trudi.
