Theres a place in VotG that seems a little similar to the cavern of ultimate punishment, but I don't know if it has any significance in the book and obviously won't relate to BMT in any way! Just shows that its still Trudi writing it!

I thought that the Cavern was to get rid of Black Magaicians who were too powerfull or contained too much power. If they were killed anyother way the remaining power in them would blast everything around it. So to drain part of it, put them in there and let them blast away and try and shield. I think it wasn't as strong as before, as the gem probably took in the power of the blasts, like the Arena does. But they store it to use back at the next Magician. Akkarin probably asked Dannyl to not mention about it so that the Guild wouldn't want to use it against him or if it wasn't working at full potential to mistakenly lure the Inchani into it and not kill them

Hmmm thats interesting, Akkarin telling Dannyl not to tell the Guild to save himself, or more so for use against the Ichani. I think it would have been too far away for it to be used against the Ichani, there were too many off them to be contained for long enough to get them there. I wonder who made it though, even if it is for Black magicians, the person or people who made it would have to be pretty powerful themselves. Perhaps it was made by people who wanted to be the only powerful magicians.

I wondered why Akkarin didn't just have a load of Magicians go back and cave it in. He must have had a reason for it. I always thought that they'd some how lure them away and trick them inside. Someone would have given their life up to lead them inside, I'm sure

are you thinking of the place that Auraya was held prisioner perhaps? that was a cavern sort thing. that's a pretty good piece of artwork. Thank you for sharing that link with us.

i was thinking, there are 2 VotG places that could resemble the cavern: -- like lorlyn says, the cavern-place auraya was held captive -- the cavern where emerahl goes, the one that says sommut like 'immortals beware, enter and know your true age'
