I only skimmed through the replies, as I haven't read AoF yet and don't want to be spoiled - but from what I gather, most people here find BMT to be better than AoF? Meaning that the plot of AoF is less captivating, the characters not as human and likable?
I really have my mind set on loving AoF as much as BMT, so I'm kind of disappointed to see that this is usually not the case...
Quick, someone convince me of the contrary!

I'm sure you'll love it as well. IT's a slower start it's just personally preferance really.

I prefer Age of the Five to Black Magicians Triology. I related more to the characters and i thought the plot to be more complex and clever aswell as Trudis writing becoming more developed and sophisticated.

and you might feel like your missing out if you don't read them because then you wouldn't have had the chance to decide for yourself. I'd at the very least see if the library has a copy. I read the library copies.
I tend to like most books by the same auther. If I like one series I'm bound to like the other. might not be as good but I usually still enjoy it.

Well, I'm currently reading Priestess of the White (I have read up to Chapter 7 so far) and, yes, I agree that it is definitely different from BMT...yet I'm glad to see that it has the same style and feeling to it.
I would not even consider not reading AoF - after BMT, I'm gonna read every Trudi book she decides to write :D

I think i prefer BMT but id did still love AoF. I just found the first book of it a bit slow at first.

My Verdict (The best one!)
I thought tBM was one of the best books i read and thought nothing could match it , i heard about AOtF and wanted to read it to see if it was as good as tBM.The first book was slow and quite frankly a little boring. Then i read the second one and started to find it interresting.By the 3rd book i could not stop reading it and this is a big thing to say but found it nearly as good as tBM.I found the story a lot cleverer and more complex not too complex.
Thanks

I wanted to read Age of Five trilogy, so I ordered books, and yesterday one arriver-but second part! I can't wait for the first one to arrive!
Hope I'll like it when it finally does...

I thought AotF counldn't possibly beat BMT but it did. I second what Zurina just said. Although I'd think she learnt repetition... I mean, she overused the word "elaborate" in AotF.

"chuckled" was thrown in a lot too.
j_mercuryuk- 09-12-2007
I thought AoF's writing was more mature, and the polt more complex, but it just didn't drag me in as much...through the last book came very close.

Oh, aye, "chuckled" too...
I loved VotG but I was a bit dissapointed not to see anymore of Mairae, she cracked me up at times.
