I just thought it made the Gods way more interesting.

Lord Borne- 06-08-2008

i thought the fact that we got a bit of background on them before the war was interesting but it made me think of them in a completly new light

Lady Tya- 06-09-2008

I never really liked them at all and the knowledge of them before the war simply added to that dislike. the knowledge of some of the things they actually did was interesting but in the end I suspected they were capable of it and it wasn't really much of a suprise.

Zurina- 06-09-2008

I think it was an interesting concept having Gods interact so physically with mortals.

Mirar- 06-09-2008

I think it's unique to have evil and uncaring gods. You don't really see that in books :D

j_mercuryuk- 06-10-2008

The idea of having a/several wonderful caring god(s) is a very Arabic and Christian concept, unitl, and to large extent part from, the Arabic religions, you don't really see it. Look at the Greek Gods. The most tragic part of the Illiade (sp), the story of Troy, is that the people don't want to be fighting the war really, but the Gods kept joining in and stirring things up. People were more like toys to them, things to be played with, and the incest!! Blimey, they were having sex with relatives left right and centre....and you could probably take that in all it's contexts. It's not really new to novels and stories either, or computer games....and tv series. Too be honest, it's an idea I'm getting bored with, but to be fair it's more with the religion. It's like; 'ok, you don't like religion, we get the point, can we move one now.' :sarcasm: So the angle that Trudi takes isn't really that new.

Lady Tya- 06-10-2008

It isn't really that new and a lot of people seem to think that AotF is somehow linked to Ancient Greek/ Roman gods, so I'd guess that TC drew some of her ideas from there.

j_mercuryuk- 06-10-2008

she said she wanted to base it in a world more like the classics, so yeah, spot on there :D

Mirar- 06-11-2008

Yea, it did sound quite like the Greek gods. I guess it's somewhat new to me as I haven't read much on the Greeks. Thanks anyway :D

Lord Borne- 06-11-2008

yeah apart from there were twelve main gods instead of five

Lady Tya- 06-12-2008

She probably took the basic idea and then changed it to suit her story line.

j_mercuryuk- 06-14-2008

I think she said something like she liked the classic period and she wanted to do something in that stlye.

Lady Tya- 06-16-2008

I haven't read much around her website, now I have some time I might read it so I don't just have to guess all the time.

j_mercuryuk- 06-16-2008

I use to just mainly read her blog on there :D

I really didn't know where to post this reply, so I think its okay when I post it here: I've read Priestess at last and I think it wasn't as good as The Magicians Guild. The storyline is a bit confusing and sometimes the characters are very boring. I'm still thinking about reading Last of the Wilds. At the moment I'm reading BMT again and it is still the greatest. Akkarin ist the best figure I've found by the way. I love him. Now: Can anyone try to convince me to read AOTF completely, because I have doubts that it is as good as BMT. I really like to read Trudis books, but I would be disappointed if it is too boring.
