Well, I noticed that writing is similar and I especially liked the way how she described Akkarin in BMT and Mirar in AOTF. We first hate them, then love them (I mean, I felt like that :-P).
But, yes, in AOTF the number of characters she uses to tell the story is huge, so it isn’t as deep as BMT. But, I can't compare them. So different....

Now that i've read it all i must say BMT was better even though the ending seemed rushed. I don't think she's found the right balance yet. Some is slow, others just the right pace and others rushed. Hopefully by the time TMA comes out the balance should be right.

I think for me it's BMT but since they're both really different even if they have similarities.
about the balance thing, I think she's working that out as she becomes a more experienced writer and not be honest I don't have a problem with her pacing most of teh time.

In the AoF she doesn't really have any baddies, again, I mean the god's aren't baddies in the absolute sense. I think we'll see the trend continuing throughout her books, sor at least i hope so.

in PotW the Pentadrians were the baddies though, but after that there weren't really any. what's so bad about baddies?

I havent read age of five yet. Although i didnt find out about her other works until recently. So i will be getting them here soon and reading them.

I mean 'baddies' in the sense of bad 'evil' people going towards thier cause. The pentadrians were only seen as baddies because of the fact we didn't see thier PoV. They weren't really 'bad guys' On a whole there nothing wrong with baddies, it's just that Trudi develops characters and people too much for them to be simply be called the baddies.
Lady Tya- 01-02-2008
I see now, I'd agree with that. Sometimes though even with her development of characters they still could be 'baddies' just with more substance than the title suggests. She's very good at turning all her characters into real people and that's part or what make her so good.
Lady Nimira- 01-02-2008
I agree with that. Making the characters real is what makes them goodies or baddies. When we start to see the Pentadrians way we kind of go "Hang on a minute" and re think it.
j_mercuryuk- 01-09-2008
She does it alot in her books, give us one view and then completely flips it over and see the other side. SO I think we'll continue to see this trend in her books.
Lorlyn- 01-09-2008
I think that's what we'll see in the next trilogy. We'll be seeing the point of view of the people in the other country (can't think of the spelling of it) instead of just the magician's that we know
Lady Nimira- 01-09-2008
Should be interesting.
Lady Tya- 01-09-2008
Hopefully.

Yes. Akkarin did say that the Ichani were the worst of Sachaka society and not to judge the people on that, but as that's all we really see, it's hard to get that image out of our heads.
The-Pepsi-Man- 01-13-2008
I wonder if we see more of that girl savara i think it was spelt? cery's girl :P she probably some well highly valued house person or something :P
