Should black magic be used to heal? In my opinion it should, anything that helps cure someone of an illness is a good thing. But i think i'm too close to the subject at the moment. Your opinions?

If black magicians are willing to heal then of course they should be allowed to, however I do not think that Black Magic should become more common simply to allow for better healing.

How do we know it allows for better healing? We saw Sonea use it against the Ichani to kill them but could they turn it around to help instead?

By black healing I think we are just thinking of using black magicians, not so much any forbidden healing magic. It seems kind of strange to forbid anythign that can directly save a life. However, a stronger magician would be able to heal better I'd say, (although without knowledge he is nothing) and therefore black magicians can be useful.

You don't need any extra stregth like stealing (or taking). Though since Sonea is strong magiclly, I do wonder if you have to have alot of strength to kill with healing. I think the healer would have to know how to kill with healing for it be bad. It is only needed to know how to use healing in a bad way, and I think that in itself it what would make it black magic. Though Sonea put two and two together, so does that mean others could just as easily do it to without being taught?

black magic will give you more strength to heal therefor it is a good thing..... ... but a black magician would be a bit like a curie u wouldn't really trust them because they could be power crazed!

Surely black healing will have a different effect on the person being healed. Would the patient be scarred by it or have some insight into black magic that the guild wouldn't want to let out? It could be a bit risky?

And how do you know?! There could be some way that we non black magicians could do it! I was just saying in the instance if there was!

Well you can heal with black magic.. all magic gives power. Healing is the knowledge of how to use that power. Black magic is just higher magic which means its stronger magic. All magic cures if you have the knowledge of how to apply the magic to heal. Black magicians aren't all power crazy ie. Sonea and Akkarin didn't use it to become a high position or abuse power... he used it only to defend himself and the Guild. I think black magic should be allowed to heal. It was after all called Higher Magic and is just another way to increase power and gain more. It could be put to either good or bad.. but so can all magic. Normal magic can also be used for god or bad it the person using it.

exactly, good point Savara. When the guild use to take power from novices, it was very likely that they did use higher magic it to heal then, its only since that power crazed magician went on a power trip was it considered bad. But the possibility that people being healed could catch a glance of how to perform black magic i dont think is great, the magician would be too in control of their magic for people to glance something they arn't meant to.

No I reackon no secrets would get out. Anyway the magician would have 'black' magic but might just use it in the same healing methods but more and stronger magic?
