Auraya and the Pentadrians (VOTG SPOILER) Just wanted to start a thread about everything to do with Auraya and her time with the Pentadrians. Mostly her imprisonment i wanted to discuss. I felt so sorry for her being so held up and the way she managed to escape i thought was fantastic and a brilliant way to do it rather than have someone rescue her. What do you all think? Was there ways hse could have avoided it? One thing i didnt get was that the voids are jsut rings arnt they? With magic in the middle and around it, so why was Auraya unable to get magic if she stook her foot out or something?

I think some of it had to do with being weak. and she was so far into the void. She didn't realize until the very end that the center was right behind her all along.

Ah, that could have been it. Ok ^_^ Do you think Auraya would ever have become a Pentadrian?
Lorlyn- 07-07-2007
before she was captured. maybe. but I think there was to much hate from the people for her to do that. perhaps she would of just respected them more then before.
Zurina- 07-07-2007
Perhaps yeah. I think she liked the way the city was run etc but knowing that there wouldn't be peace between the lands i don't think she would have abandoned the Siyee for any type of life with the Pentadrians.
Lorlyn- 07-07-2007
she loved the siyee to much to abandon them.
Lady Nimira- 10-11-2007
She did love the Siyee, but Juran warned her it could be a trick. I don't see why she wasn't more cautious. I think her love of the Siyee made her put her guard down and led to the imprisonment.

She did realise afterwards that her rush to help the siyee caused her to be rash and let her guard down.
I don't think she'd ever have left the white for the pentadrians.
Lady Nimira- 10-11-2007
I don't think so either but either way she turned her back on the Circlian gods. Whether she joined the Pentadrians or not the White would still feel and still feel betrayed by her. It's a shame really. If only they'd thought about it i'm sure they would have supported her decision in becoming a wild. (well most.....maybe not Rian)

Becoming a Wild was best for her after that point though. During her imprisonment, she felt her regard of the gods she used to serve proudly slip away until there was nothing left. But she did grieve to let them go ofcourse, especially Chaia. So that kind of tells me she wouldn't have become Pentadrian even when Nekaun was doing her best to persuade her. Her connection to the Circlians and the Circlian faith was still to deep, too far-reaching. I mean, despite all the gods had done to her, she STILL didn't let her full respect go until after her near-rape when Huan's disguised trick convinced her.
I really liked her imprisonement, in terms of the power in the writing. It was terrible ofcourse, but so effective in the long run. I was just hooked after her capture. I read the rest in the same day. I dunno, it just really showed how Trudi has gotten more confident when dealing with complex plots and worlds. I mean, the BMT is wonderful, but one can tell her she was more daring with plot and character complexity in AOTF.
argh, sorry, went off topic there! :D

which only leads to prove that since her writting was so much better in Age of five her next black magician books are bound to be even better.

Can't wait....
:D
Ora- 11-06-2007
Me too...... :-P
Shadowed Empress- 11-07-2007
I wonder if she'll broaden the BMT world or just elborate on stuff she's already established...
Lorlyn- 11-07-2007
who knows. We'll find out though when they come out. If she was smart she would broaden it. or do both.
