P.S. F. A. O. All artists of the guild... I hope you don't mind but I wanted some advice - please be honest, no matter how brutally! :? I really love to draw but I've never been a natural at it. :( I'm good at copying pictures (not tracing, just copying) but I've never been very good at just drawing something from my own head and I'm not great with faces. What I really want to know is, do you think if I kept practising I'd eventually become much better at it or do you really just have to be born with the talent? Also, are books about learning to draw any use and, if so, has anyone got any suggestions? Thanks x x x x

Donia, believe me when I say that practicing DOES help and it will help you. Also having people telling you where you're going wrong in the picyutres will help. They can see things that you may not. I started of copying as well and then moved onto real pictures...in fact this a picture that I did when I frist started drawing; Aweful isn't it. So you can believe me when I tell you that I'm not naturally good at art, it did take lt of practice, and I'm still not happy most of my art. As to bok, well I'm afraid that I can only recommand manga drawing books.

Hello, here's the picture that I said would be up on Thursday...a little late. Opps, but this is Akkarin and Lorlen. I@m afriad it's not very good because I'm not very good at drawing men/boys. I completely messed up Akkarin's face and then I didn't get the angling right for his body. Oh well, better luck next time.

Wow... The colour shading on that is brill, Jmerc. The other one's great too!

Wow... The colour shading on that is brill, Jmerc. The other one's great too! Lol, don't worry, you don't have to lie. I know the first one's rubbish, like I said, I drew it a bit over a year ago when I was started drawing my own stuff.

Shadowed Empress....I forgot to mention the other day that I think your Akkarin with the globe light is PERFECT!! It's just how I imagined him (with the wonderful bonus of no shirt!). I know it wasn't intentional, but I actually think the blue tint from the camera gives it something extra - a kind of atmosphere. Well done!! Yay! Thank you so much! :hugs: Ah, I know... topless Akkarin is wonderful...*sigh* Ahem, yeah, I've come back to earth now. Yes I thought the blue tint gave a different kind of atmosphere too- glad you agree :D As if he's in a dark passage or something... dark passage + topless Akkarin... okay yeah I seriously need to distract myself. :D:D

that might not be a bad idea SE. lol

Shadowed Empress- 09-11-2006

ahah I LOVE it, Jmerc! *giggles at Lorlen's expression* The shading of the robes look great... That first drawing of yours isn't all that bad actually! At least, compared to some of my first drawings! And donia, I agree, practising DOES help so much. After two years of really putting time aside for my art, I see an amazing difference, and I'm sure it will be the same for you :D

Cool pik Jmerc. Donia. I only started drawing when i was 13, and i was terrible (so only a slight improvement!) but practice really does make perfect and you need to have a lot of pacience. You're not going to get it right the first time, but if you stick at it, you will :) And drawing books do help :) try and get a complete one that has not only bodies but nature in aswell. :) hope that helps.

Okay... um just finished did this sketch a few minutes ago... my first drawing of Auraya :D She is ofcourse dark-haired- this is just a scrap. I'm going to shade it properly earliest tomorrow, but I have a feeling (judging by the rate at which teachers are setting us mountains of useless homework) it may wait until thursday night. :( *sigh* Nothing better than school to kill one's creativity completely...

Kasloumor- 09-11-2006

Holy C.... You really are talented SE.

Zurina- 09-11-2006
